ATOM FOOTBALL (up to 10 years of age)

Atom Football is parent run and is part of the Calgary & Area Atom Football League.

  • Atom is 10-player football, with coaches on the field.
  • The games are played on half the field and teams alternate running 5 plays.
  • If they do not score a touchdown, the ball is turned over to the other team for their 5 plays, and so on.
  • Generally, there are about 15 plays for each team in a half, which take about 45 minutes, therefore games are usually 1.5 to 2 hours.

Atom is a fun & safe way to learn about full contact football and prepares the players to move up to Peewee.

COACHES NEEDED - TRAINING PROVIDED

Atom Football relies on Parent Coaches participation each year.  It's a rewarding experience, helping young athletes grow and develop with the great team sport of football.  Please let us know if you are interested at Registration Day.

We don't just throw you out there and say, "Go coach the kids?  We have excellent coaches, with extensive experience, to show you the ropes.

Training will be offered to teach prospective coaches the drills and skills that will be taught during Spring Camp.  Additional sessions will be offered during June/July as needed to add to the initial training in preparation for the August Training Camp and Fall Season.

Family Vacations - Please Plan Ahead.

We recognize the immense value of family time and family vacations, but one of the things we ask you to consider the timing of summer vacations.  We ask that, if at all possible, families plan their vacation time during July to keep August open for Training Camp.  Football is a complex team sport that requires significant practice time for players to participate safely and contribute to the success of the team.  Missing a significant portion of August puts a player at a major disadvantage.  It isn't a knock-out, but it does take time to catch up.  Please let the coaches know your intensions as soon as possible.
